When: May 25-28 (Friday-Monday)

Richard and Ran will try to get there down before everyone else (it looks like we won't get down there until 8:00pm) and pick out a camping spot.

Where: Nature Camp

Driving directions and Google Maps link
You should see the Nature Camp entrance on your left (or really, in front of you because it's on a hairpin turn). After turning onto Nature Camp Trail, you'll want to bear left onto the "New Road", not actually going into the camp. While it's called the "New Road", there's not actually a sign or anything for it. It's just a dirt road on the left. You'll then go allll the way down to the end of that dirt road. Although we will most likely be camping along the side of the road before the end.

What:

There are tons of really cool hikes all around the camp. We won't actually stay at the camp, but a good distance from it. Sessions don't start until mid-June, so now is a perfect time to go while there are no campers and it's still spring weather.
We will be doing at least one water hike! So be sure to bring a bathing suit and wet shoes, or non-cotton clothes and old sneakers you don't mind getting wet. Waterproof sandals (not flip-flops) might be fine too if you feel comfortable rock hopping in them. The hikes are along rivers and require rock hopping and/or stepping into the river. You don't actually have to swim if you don't want to, but your shoes will almost certainly be getting wet.

Possible hikes:

  • McClung Mountain (tough hike)
  • Mine Mountain (tough hike)
  • Whetstone Ridge (moderate hike)
  • St Mary (easy, mostly walking, some water at the end)
  • South River (easy, mostly water)

Who:

  • Richard
  • Eric
  • Lauren
  • Ran
  • Jeremiah
  • Jessicka
  • John
  • Paul? (Richard's coworker)

Note: Official "CE" markers will be grass clippings or pieces of white cloth tied to a tree to direct your way if plans change. If you get to an intersection, just look for that.
